BIBLE VERSE: “And Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return unto the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods and Ashtaroth from among you, and prepare your hearts unto the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you out of the hand of the Philistines.” —1 Samuel 7:3
BIBLE THOUGHT: The few words used in this passage are very expressive; and this was one of the most effectual revivals which ever took place in Israel. The Ark of God had been taken from Israel by the Philistines and Israel was in a dark time in their life as a nation. Bitterness, Backbiting, Frustration, Quick tempered, and they could just not get along with one another.
Sound familiar? My home, many years ago, was just like that. This verse (among others) is what God used to speak to me and my wife’s heart. Notice in the verse above what is required for Israel to be delivered out of the hand of the Philistines and have peace once again in the land. (1). Return unto the Lord with all your hearts. God requires 100% of us. There is no such thing as a part time servant of God. (2). Put away the strange gods. Get rid of the things in your life/home that is not pleasing to God! (3). Prepare your hearts and serve Him only. Commit yourself to the Lord.
Follow these steps and you will have peace in your home, just as Israel had peace in the land once again!
