BIBLE THOUGHT: One of the weapons that Satan will use against a Believer and their devotion to God is DISTRACTION! In Luke chapter 10 is a story of a woman by the name of Martha who had invited Jesus into her home. martha was so excited that she told her sister Mary and Mary came rushing over. Martha was busy serving the Lord, preparing dinner for Jesus, while Mary , according to verse 39 “sat at Jesus’ feet, and heard his word..” Martha realizing what was going on said “Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.” And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”
What a lesson for you and I! We can get so busy trying to work for the Lord that we neglect making the time to hear His Word. Satan will throw every distraction known to man to stop you from having a time of reading and praying. The phone, TV, friends coming over, and having too many irons in the fire. My friend, take the time to attend upon the Lord in reading the Word and prayer….without distraction.
