BIBLE VERSE: “His commandments are not grievous.” —1 John 5:3
BIBLE THOUGHT: The “old ball and chain”, often referred to a spouse in a joking way (we are joking when we say this, right?) =) The world uses this excuse not to come to know Christ as their Saviour, and understandable, they are lost and without God. But, what about Born Again Believer’s that feel this way? There is a problem when we get this feeling or attitude toward God. So where does the problem lay? With God? Certainly not! A child of God feels this way when they want to live their own life the way they want to…and that is without God’s interference. The excuse of a backslidden Believer is, ” it’s just too hard to live for Christ.” The truth is they have grown cold toward God and will lie to themselves through excuses. ”God’s way” is NOT grievous. For a Born Again child of God that has grown cold and indifferent toward Him, the Bible does become the proverbial “ball and chain.”
