BIBLE VERSE: ”rightly dividing the word of truth.” —2 Timothy 2:15
BIBLE THOUGHT: The absence of “rightly dividing the word of truth” is wrongly dividing the word of truth. The Bible provides us with an example found in John 21: 20-23. “Then Peter, turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following; which also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, which is he that betrayeth thee? Peter seeing him saith to Jesus, Lord, and what shall this man do?” (Now notice carefully what Jesus says in the next verse) “Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me.” (Notice carefully what the next verse says) “Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die:” ( Amazing! They twisted what Jesus had just said!) Now notice that the writer himself (John) corrects this immediately in the rest of the verse “yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee?”
Sound familiar? Man is good at twisting the Word of Truth. For this very reason, we have ”man made religion.” ALL of man made religion has one thing in common, THEY ALL ADD TO THE WORD OF TRUTH. At Calvary Independent Baptist Church, the Word of God (KJV 1611) is our final authority! ANY church that adds to the Word of God is a liar. This is based on Proverbs 30:5-6 which says ” Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him. Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.”
