BIBLE VERSE: ”The labour of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.” —Proverbs 10:16
BIBLE THOUGHT: The “righteous” is referring to the Saved, Born Again. It is interesting that it is the LABOUR of the righteous and the FRUIT of the wicked that is mentioned and not the other way around. For the Saved it is the labour that should be our focus of service to God. The results, or FRUIT, is always God’s business. The fruit of our service is not our main priority, but rather are we pleasing to God in our labours. ”Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart; With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:” (Ephesians 6:6-7). The verse says this labour “tends to life.” How is your life? Do you look to labour for Christ? Or are you just out for the fruit? In other words, just out for what you can get out of life. With the wicked , Labour is not their priority, but FRUIT, what they can get out of life. And when fruit is your priority it leads to sin, and sin leads to death.
DAILY THOUGHT: The goal of the righteous is to labour. The goal of the wicked is the fruit. We are all one or the other. Which are you?
