BIBLE VERSES: ”I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved…” —John 10:9
BIBLE THOUGHT: Jesus Christ is that door! What greater security has the church of God than that the Lord Jesus is between it and all its enemies? Here are plain directions how to come into the fold; we must come in by Jesus Christ as the Door. By faith in him as the great Mediator between God and man (1Timothy 2:5) It’s not of works of any kind. The very moment man adds anything to Salvation it becomes tainted. It is man’s nature to want to have a hand in things. Why? So he can boast! Man says, let’s add baptism to salvation, let’s add speaking in tongues to salvation, let’s add good works to salvation. God says that is “by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). Baptism, speaking in tongues, and good works are all “adding to” salvation. Jesus said that He is the door, by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved. And then a stern warning in John 10:1 ” Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.” Salvation is Jesus plus nothing. It is that simple. ” But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2Corinthians 11:3)
