Making a fool of God…

BIBLE VERSE:  ”For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.” —II Samuel 12:12

BIBLE THOUGHT:  In 2 Samuel 11 we read of David’s great sin, and that of having Uriah killed, the husband of Bathsheba, not to mention the fact he had already slept with Uriah’s wife beforehand.  David took Bathsheba as his wife after he had had Uriah killed. Time had passed and no doubt he thought he was off the hook and no one knew anything about it.  But God surely did. David in the postilion of King, a servant of God himself, a public follower of God, committed this sin in secret and thought it was all over with. The very thing David thought was done quietly was exposed so that millions upon millions would know what had happened. “For thou didst it secretly: but I will do this thing before all Israel, and before the sun.” (2 Sam.12:12)

This should be a valuable lesson for us all.  Us, we, that claim that we are children of a Holy God. Believer’s of Jesus Christ. Heirs of eternal life.  The lesson of  never making a fool of God. When Believer’s live a double life, “saved on Sunday, live like hell on Monday”,  when Believer’s think we can get by with a little sin here and there…..we are making a fool of God. Here is a powerful verse. “  Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7).  Luke 12:48 tells us that “unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required.”

Are there things in your life that your doing, secretly, that is not pleasing to God? Are you living a double life? Let this be a warning, a lesson,  to get things right with God.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:  “be sure your sin will find you out.” —Numbers 32:23
