BIBLE VERSES: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:” —Romans 13:1-3
BIBLE THOUGHT: We are being forced to purchase healthcare or be fined. That is the law that President Obama will be signing into office. Is is a step toward Socialism? You better believe it is. The Government will control 1/6 of the economy. Healthcare makes up 16% of our economy…..these are facts. We are already forced to buy car insurance, now health insurance. Does it stop here? No! There will be more Government control coming down the pike. So, what do we do? Do we panic? Do we protest? The Bible has an answer for born Again Believer’s.
The grace of the gospel teaches us submission and quiet, where pride and the carnal mind only see causes for murmuring and discontent.. We are directed, based on the verses above:
1. Let EVERY soul be subject unto the higher powers. Why? Because there is no power but of God, in fact the powers to be (this even includes Obama) are ordained of God!
2. Whosoever resisthth the power, resisteth the power of God. I cannot recall where Jesus ask his disciples to take up a protest in the streets of Jerusalem because the Roman government was tightening the screws on the Jewish people .
3. Do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same. I didn’t make this up…it’s God’s Word. We are instructed to pray for those that are in authority. Why? ” that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour;” (1 Timothy 2:1-3).
Personally, I do not like what is going on in our country….at all. But, I am looking at the bigger picture here. These things (and a lot worse) are “bound” to happen. We know it’s coming, we know it is going to get worse, Hey, Praise the Lord! It simply means that we are one step closer to home!…Heaven!! Some Believer’s are more concerned about the USA that their eternal home in heaven! Souls all around us are slipping into hell, and we are murmuring about what is happening even though it is inevitable. We are instructed in 1 Peter 2:13, “Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord’s sake…”. Once the laws of the land go beyond God’s Word, then we are instructed to follow Acts 5:29, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” Romans 13:1-3 are God’s Words. Do we as Believer’s erase them or live by them?
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: The lesson here taught, is that it becomes all Christians to learn and practise, that the godly in the land will always be found the quiet and the peaceable in the land, whatever others are.
