BIBLE VERSE: ” the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” —Psalm 27:1
BIBLE THOUGHT: We live in an exercised crazed world. Too much fat, too many carbs, 2000 calories a day, protein and more protein. Oh, and lets not forget the water! We buy running clothes and walking shoes. Barbells and bicycles. Diet pills, diet food, and diet books Spend, spend spend. And all in the name of looking good and hopefully to live longer. And the older we get, the younger we want to look…..or is that the other way around?
Oh, that God’s people would spend as much time and effort in the Word of God. The dedication that some spend on healthy living is amazing, and our spiritual life is all too often, secondary at best. ”The flesh profiteth nothing” (John 6:63), and “bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things” (1 Timothy 4:8). The body we now live in is dying, and there is not a thing we can do about it. Our spirit or soul will live for eternity. Which do you spend more time on? We need a daily dose of God’s Word. ” though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.” (2 Corinthians 4:16). We will spend hours in a day in feeding and exercise this old dying flesh, and minutes in strengthening our souls.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A few chapters a day will help keep the devil away.
