“Dig now in the wall”

BIBLE VERSES:  ”Then said he unto me, Son of man, dig now in the wall: and when I had digged in the wall, behold a door.  So I went in and saw; and behold every form of creeping things, and abominable beasts, and all the idols of the house of Israel, pourtrayed upon the wall round about.  Then said he unto me, Son of man, hast thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD seeth us not; the LORD hath forsaken the earth.”  —Ezekiel 8: verses 8, 10, 12

BIBLE THOUGHT: The nation of Israel was in an awful backslidden condition.  So God has Ezekiel to go and dig in the wall to reveal the secret and hidden things of Israel.  The sins of Israel was portrayed upon the wall and there before the eyes of  Ezekiel was all the wretched sin of Israel.

What mankind does in the dark, what he does in private is revealed before an all knowing and Holy God. ”  Thou seen what the ancients of the house of Israel do in the dark, every man in the chambers of his imagery? for they say, the LORD seeth us not.” Oh, how we need to dig in the walls of our hearts and minds and confess the “things done in the dark!”  It is only for our benefit.  There is a great deal of secret wickedness in the world. We think themselves out of God’s sight. But we are ripe indeed for ruin, if we do not confess.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:   The greatest sin is unconfessed sin
