What is Faith?

BIBLE VERSE: Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” —Hebrews 11:1

BIBLE THOUGHT:  In John chapter 4 beginning with verse 46, there is a story of a nobleman’s son who became ill and near death. The nobleman besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.” And in verse 50 “Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth.” The Bible says that the nobleman believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.”

Not a wonder, not a vision, not angels playing tic tac toe on his ribs, or cold chills going up and down his spine…the man believed Jesus’ Word! Faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible!  Doubt sees the obstacles, faith sees the way. Doubt sees the darkest night, faith sees the day. Doubt dreads to take a step, faith soars on high!

DAILY THOUGHT:  You believed in Jesus enough to save your soul.  Can you believe in Jesus enough to guide the rest of your life?

What have you given to God

BIBLE VERSE: “He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.” —Matthew 10:39

BIBLE THOUGHT:  We have nothing that God needs. Think about it. If I were to give God my riches I couldn’t make Him any richer, He owns everything.  If I were to give God my wisdom. I wouldn’t make Him any wiser. He is the all-wise God. If I were to give him my power, I couldn’t make God more powerful. He is omnipotent. God only wants one thing from His children….our hearts!  If we pray to God without giving Him our hearts, we are mocking Him. If we praise Him without our heart toward Him, we are praising in ignorance. God is saying to us today; “Give Me your heart.”  How will you respond?  Read Luke 9:23-27.  What are you holding onto that keeps you from fully surrendering your life to Him?

DAILY THOUGHT:  He gave His all to me, I have given ____________ (fill in the blank)

Understanding God’s Word

Wednesday, November 4th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE: Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.” —Psalm 119:18

BIBLE THOUGHT:  Have you ever thought you could open the Bible and pull out some truth at random for your life? Or take a Greek concordance and be able to comprehend the Bible? The Word of God is unlike any other book you will read. our minds will never comprehend the things of God apart from the Holy Spirit showing you. If you want to understand God’s Word, you must lay your intellect in the dust, and with open arms and a heart of faith , approach God’s Word for wisdom, discernment, and knowledge. It took a supernatural miracle to write the Word of God. It takes a supernatural miracle for us to understand it. Remember, the teaching part comes from the Holy Spirit….we just need to listen. When God begins to write His Word upon your heart, it will change you!

DAILY THOUGHT:  ”The Holy Ghost shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance.”

—John 14:26….just ask.

Being Moderate in your Moderation

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

BIBLE VERSE: According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.”—Phillipians 1:20

BIBLE THOUGHT:  Moderation is good in some things like eating, sleeping, recreation, exercise, and finances. But when it comes to spiritual warfare, moderation is a sin. When it comes to believing the Bible moderation is a sin. Suppose a wife ask her husband, “honey, do you love me?” and he said “well, moderately.” She would fix his wagon don’t you think?  Friend, if the world considers you a “moderate”, when it comes to Christianity, you are riding the fence of lukewarmness. May God forgive those who will not go the second mile.

DAILY THOUGHT:  Ask God to help you be a passionate worshiper and a bold evangelists in a sea of lukewarm apathy. Friend, if your Christian life is worth anything, it’s worth everything!
