The Day After…

BIBLE VERSE: While I live will I praise the LORD..” —Psalm 146:2a

BIBLE THOUGHT:  The day after Thanksgiving…whew! Many of us are asking, ” did I eat all of that?”  What a great day of thanks. Thanksgiving, for many of us is a day that we reflect upon the past year, and take the time to thank God for what all He has done.  But what about the Day After? May I suggest to you, that at the end of each day. Look back thru the day and be thankful for what God has done. Thanksgiving need not be only once a year.

DAILY THOUGHT  Psalm 146:2b  ”I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.”

What has happened to our Country?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Below is a Proclamation of the United States Congress for Thanksgiving Day 1782.

IT being the indispensable duty of all Nations, not only to offer up their supplications toALMIGHTY GOD, the giver of all good, for his gracious assistance in a time of distress, but also in a solemn and public manner to give him praise for his goodness in general, and especially for great and signal interpositions of his providence in their behalf: Therefore the United States in Congress assembled, taking into their consideration the many instances of divine goodness to these States, in the course of the important conflict in which they have been so long engaged; the present happy and promising state of public affairs; and the events of the war, in the course of the year now drawing to a close; particularly the harmony of the public Councils, which is so necessary to the success of the public cause; the perfect union and good understanding which has hitherto subsisted between them and their Allies, notwithstanding the artful and unwearied attempts of the common enemy to divide them; the success of the arms of the United States, and those of their Allies, and the acknowledgment of their independence by another European power, whose friendship and commerce must be of great and lasting advantage to these States:—– Do hereby recommend to the inhabitants of these States in general, to observe, and request the several States to interpose their authority in appointing and commanding the observation of THURSDAY the twenty-eight day ofNOVEMBER next, as a day of solemn THANKSGIVING to GOD for all his mercies: and they do further recommend to all ranks, to testify to their gratitude to GOD for his goodness, by a cheerful obedience of his laws, and by promoting, each in his station, and by his influence, the practice of true and undefiled religion, which is the great foundation of public prosperity and national happiness.

2009 The United States of America

The President claims that Christianity is on the same level as Islam. NO GOD in schools. In this country in the year of our Lord 2009, God has been put on the back burner!

DAILY THOUGHT: “The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God” —Psalm 9:17

Stay In The Fight!

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

BIBLE VERSE :” Be ye strong therefore, and let not your hands be weak: for your work shall be rewarded.” —2 Chronicles 15:7

BIBLE THOUGHT:  Staying strong in the Lord is, at times, a struggle. Some of the things that we contend with are obvious; trials, troubles, and discouragements. And others are not so recognizable. Our Emotions! At times it seems like our spiritual life is a roller coaster. Up one day and down the next. One Sunday we really enjoy the church service and the next its as if we are in some daze and get nothing. It’s not just Satan, Self, and Sin that we battle but it can also be the routine of our lives! When this happens, ask God for help!  Instead of reading, pick a verse and memorize and meditate on it for the day. Do what Jeremiah 33:3 says,”Call unto me, and I will answer thee…” Remember Jeremiah 33:3 is the “9 1 1 ” of the Bible.

DAILY THOUGHT:  No matter what….STAY IN THE FIGHT!…don’t give up!

Be thankful by giving God the glory

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

BIBLE VERSE: What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?” –Psalm 116:12

BIBLE THOUGHT:  How do you pay back God?  Much like, how do you buy a gift for someone that has everything.  God owns it all. The answer is , we don’t “pay back” anything to God. What God wants from you and I….is our devotion.  So, the question is “what shall I render unto the Lord for ALL His benefits toward me?”  The answer is in the “daily thought”

DAILY THOUGHT: Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name…”  —Psalm 96:8

Are you familiar with your Inheritance?

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE: an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you..” ———1 Peter 1:4

BIBLE THOUGHT: For those that have accepted Christ as their Savior, we have an inheritance coming. An inheritance that is: INCORRUPTIBLE,  no one can take it from us nor can we waste it! UNDEFILED, it’s a good inheritance, not obtained by corrupt means. FADETH NOT AWAY, it is as new and fresh today as it was the day we were Born Again. It’s beauty and worth will never decline!  This inheritance is Eternal Life! YOU my friend will never die nor be out of the presence of Jesus. The beauty, wonders, and splendor of heaven is ours. A beauty that makes a Yellowstone or Glacier National Park, pale in comparison! And all this is  RESERVED for God’s children!

DAILY THOUGHT: Do you know anyone that could use such an inheritance as this?  Tell them.

BIBLE VERSE: Be still, and know that I am God” —Psalm 46:10

BIBLE THOUGHT:  There is an unseen world right where you are.  Did you know that in the room where you are reading this, there are cartoons, music, mysteries, and concerts going on? You just don’t see or hear them unless you have your radio or television tuned in to the right frequency. —- So many people are missing out on the joys and priviledges of Christian Life because they are not living a “tuned in” life to Jesus. To experience the abundant life that Jesus died to give you, all you have to do is tune in…..”be still and know that I am God”  Christians march to a different beat. We whistle a different tune, and that is where our blessings lie…where the world cannot see.

DAILY THOUGHT:  Finding God’s frequency takes discipline. practice the discipline of quieting your heart and listening for HIS voice.

Kindness and Loving-Kindness

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE:  ”Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable.” —Psalm 145:3

BIBLE THOUGHT:  A Sunday School teacher asked her class if they knew the difference between kindness and loving-kindness. One little girl said she knew the difference. She told the teacher that kindness is like when you ask your mother for some toast and she gives it to you, but loving-kindness is when you ask your mother for some toast and she gives it to you with butter and jam on it. And that’s the way God is. God, in his loving kindness, is an exceedingly generous giver. He doesn’t just give you some blessings, but He gives some ‘blessins’ with some butter and jam on it.

God is just that way. HE not only Saved our souls from hell, but meets our every need on a daily basis and sometimes with a “little jam on it!”

DAILY THOUGHT: God “is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think” —Ephesians 3:20

The Origin of Veterans Day

Wednesday, November 11th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE:  ”  or God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” —John 3:16

In 1921, an unknown World War I American soldier was buried in Arlington National Cemetery. This site, on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River and the city of Washington, became the focal point of reverence for America’s veterans. Similar ceremonies occurred earlier in England and France, where an unknown soldier was buried in each nation’s highest place of honor… These memorial gestures all took place on November 11, giving universal recognition to the celebrated ending of World War I fighting at 11 a.m., November 11, 1918 (the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month). The day became known as “Armistice Day”…. Realizing that peace was equally preserved by veterans of WW II and Korea, Congress was requested to make this day an occasion to honor those who have served America in all wars. In 1954 President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day…. A law passed in 1968 changed the national commemoration of Veterans Day to the fourth Monday in October. It soon became apparent, however, that November 11 was a date of historic significance to many Americans. Therefore, in 1978 Congress returned the observance to its traditional date.

DAILY THOUGHT:  I am thankful for the men and women that have given their lives for my freedoms. I am eternally grateful for my Savior Jesus Christ. Was beaten, hung on the Cross, died for my sins, Rose Again, that I may have Eternal Life. That was the ultimate sacrifice!

“In length of days is understanding”

Monday, November 9th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE:  ”In length of days is understanding”  —-Job 12:12

BIBLE THOUGHT:  Why is all this happening to me!?  Job surely had a right to ask this. And according to Job chapter 1 and verse 1 the bible says “Job, that man was perfect and upright..” I don’t know that there is any one good answer, however, there are some verses that are very helpful. We are told that one of the reasons we go thru things, in 2 Corinthians 1:4 Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”   So we can comfort those with the things that we have been thru.  Just think of the untold millions over a millenia that the book of Job has been a source of strength and comfort to!  Know this, that God is just and that God has a purpose of good in your sufferings. Even in storms there can be Peace.

DAILY THOUGHT:  Peace does not exist in the absence of trouble, but in the presence of God.  Read Issiah 26:3

“An expected end”

Saturday, November 7th, 2009

BIBLE VERSE: For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” —Jeremiah 29:11

BIBLE THOUGHT:  What is going to happen?  How is all this going to turn out? What if this doesn’t workout?…In a world of uncertainty, the only thing that is certain is God’s Word.  For a Born Again child of God, we do have an expected end. And that expected end is Good!  We may not know “what is going to happen tomorrow”, but we know who holds tomorrow. God always has our best interest at heart, He knows what is best for us, therefore, He can give us “an expected end”

DAILY THOUGHT:  All things work for the good to them that love God.   Do you love God? If, yes, then you do have an expected end of Peace!
